Several trade unions and labour organizations nationwide called for a 24-hour national strike on October 27 to voice demands against government policies. Public and private sector aviation, maritime, rail, and local transportation workers are expected to participate. The strike action will likely disrupt bus, tram, and metro networks throughout metropolitan areas, regional rail lines, and airport operations. However, the disruptions are unlikely to be crippling because Italian law requires that a minimum level of service be maintained during weekday strikes.
