UQ Travel Allowance
  • The UQ traveller's meals: food and drink for breakfast, lunch and dinner, morning and afternoon tea
  • The UQ traveller's incidental expenses such as snacks, drinks (water, coffee, tea etc.) gratuities, low value public transport (e.g. local journeys on a bus, tram, train etc. that doesn't cost more than 10% of the total overnight allowance)
  • Any other personal services rendered by the UQ traveller: phone or internet charges, laundry, dry cleaning, room service etc.

Air travel

  • Domestic and international commercial airlines
  • Charter aircraft
  • Airline and airport taxes and fees

Ground transport

  • Hire car
  • Taxi
  • Bus
  • Train
  • Legalised ride-sharing services (e.g. Uber)
  • Parking (such as airport parking)

Other modes of transport

  • Ferry
  • Sea travel
  • Local boats (domestic or international)


  • Hotels
  • Hostels
  • Non-commercial accommodation (e.g. camping)

Conference or function packages

Packages may include:

  • Accommodation

Incidentals (expenses that are incidental to the business travel)

  • Gratuities (international travel only)

Other items (depending on the nature of travel, and time spent away from home)

  • Vaccinations/medications required for specific UQ travel destinations (other than for vaccinations listed in the Immune Australia Program)
  • Cost of a medical appointment related to insurance requirements (e.g. fit for travel asessment by a doctor)
