Indonesia - Explosions May 13 - Surabaya

At least three churches were targeted in coordinated bombing attacks in Surabaya, East Java Province, at approximately 0730 May 13. According to preliminary reports, at least eight people were killed and another 35 injured. The attacks involved the use of at least one suicide bomber and vehicular-borne explosive devices. The bombings occurred outside the Gereja Katolik Santa Maria Tak Bercela church in the southern Baratajaya District; Gereja Kristen Indonesia Diponegoro 146 along Jalan Raya Diponegoro; and GPPS Jemaat Sawahan church on Jalan Arjuno. Police foiled a fourth attack targeting Gereka Katolik Polisi Istimewa. Security officers also conducted a controlled demolition on a second device near Gereja Kristen Indonesia Diponegoro 146

Police have cordoned off the areas. Expect increased security near the blast sites. Localized traffic disruptions are possible while security personnel continue their investigation.
