Chubb Travel Insurance update - UK and US electronics ban

3 Apr 2017

In the wake of the United Kingdom and the United States announcing bans of large electronic devices from cabin baggage on some flights, travellers may now be required to place such items in the aircraft hold.

While the new regulations are not expected to result in a significant impact to Australian travellers, Chubb Travel Insurance for business travel has scope to cover for these new regulations. For example, if an airline has specifically instructed travellers that they are prohibited from carrying such items as personal cabin baggage then cover is available subject to all other relevant terms, conditions and exclusions.

Within the business travel product, this is subject to the covered person taking all reasonable efforts to safeguard any electronic item, which means adequately packing to protect such items from damage or theft.
